Captain Aanya Jain, the driving force behind Kahaya, started her journey as a commercial pilot with a passion for exploring offbeat destinations and local experiences. From camping in forests to cycling from Seattle to San Francisco, she’s done it all. She even braved frozen lakes and sub-zero temperatures, driving to Leh and Spiti. She initially dreamt of becoming a chef, but life had other plans, steering her towards the mechanics of an airplane. She finally took a leap of faith to fully commit to travelling and learning the tricks of providing unforgettable hospitality, and she resigned as a commercial pilot to start her venture, Kahaya. She spent time exploring various Airbnb, vacation homes, rentals and restaurants to enrich her knowledge and interned at a property management company to learn the trade.
A spiritual soul with an adrenaline junkie side when it comes to adventure, she is always open to learning something new through conversations and experiences. And in this exploration, travelling remains her best teacher. It’s broadened her horizons in all aspects of life, from food to good interiors to local cultural experiences.
